Jousting for a Visible Presence Online (and beyond)

The John Fearless Company had identified a niche in the craft beer brewing industry for their high-touch customer service approach and specialty, hard-to-source ingredients. They built a memorable brand around legendary medieval character Duke John the Fearless and were on their way to expanding their online presence. That is until their web development and digital marketing guy disappeared. (We don’t think anything bad happened; he just stopped communicating.)

We were able to take the reins and steer their marketing back in the right direction. Building upon the company’s vintage woodcut logo and striking color palette, we created a bold new visual brand and brought the Duke to life in 3D, complete with a hop head and gleaming coat of armor. The brand featured prominently in a new website that used WooCommerce integrated with the existing Netsuite database to manage online transactions.

As a distributor of specialty South African hops, the John Fearless team wanted potential customers searching for the unique varietals to be able to locate the site, preferably in a prime position on page 1. After just a few months of optimizing the content, we were able to meet that goal for them, pushing their ranking above even the farms in South Africa that grow the hops. Digital search and display advertising through Google and social media helped create even more awareness to drive the number of site visitors far ahead of what they had seen with their previous site.
