Mentoring a Nonprofit to a New Brand Identity

Several years ago, Partners Mentoring Youth came to SageMG with a brand image problem. After extensive interviews with key stakeholders, we helped the nonprofit youth mentoring organization develop messaging that would be more attractive to new donors and volunteers in Northern Colorado.

Nearly a decade later, an expansion of their organization to incorporate prevention education programming and strategic partnerships with the community brought them back to the SageMG branding room, this time for a complete rebrand. The Partners brand had become well known in the community as the go-to for youth mentoring, but the organization’s growth in the continuum of care surrounding those youth required a broader message with a revised look to go along with it.

Beginning with a brand message for the organization now known simply as Partners, we used the Sageified StoryBrand Framework to build upon their beloved existing brand. After easing them through the StoryBrand process, we gained their confidence. The messaging earned the thumbs-up from Partners’ executive director, then the full board of directors, staff, and volunteers. From there we developed a logo designed to depict all facets of their stakeholders across the community, incorporating a color palette that could be used to identify the individual pillars of programming and services they provide across all of their marketing channels.
